Two flights of cider from High Limb Cider

High Limb Cider in Plymouth, MA

August 11, 2023

Vince and I both love hard cider, so when we were searching for local craft beverage spots during our New England road trip in August 2023, we were excited to find a cidery in Plymouth, MA. High Limb Cider is a cider lover’s paradise tucked away in the back of the G Pub restaurant. If you’re into craft cider and good food, this is the place for you!

Location

High Limb Cider was a quick 15-minute drive from our campground in Middleborough, MA. When you punch it into Google Maps, it comes up as High Limb Cider, so don’t be thrown off when you see the sign for G Pub. We were a little confused because there wasn’t anything on their website to indicate they were inside of a restaurant, and there was no sign outside that indicated there was a cidery inside. In any event, there’s plenty of parking for the shopping center where G Pub is located. After you head inside, you’ll find the cidery’s taproom in the back. Since they serve the cider in the restaurant, we chose to sit in there for dinner.

First Impressions

G Pub is a large restaurant with a massive bar in the middle. They’ve got pool tables on one side and an arcade in the back, which is great if you’ve got kids in tow.

The High Limb Cider taproom is along one of the back walls. It’s separated from the rest of G Pub, and it’s very small compared to the rest of the space. It’s cozy and inviting, perfect for sampling some unique ciders.

Drinks

We couldn’t resist trying a little bit of everything, so we ordered two flights. Here’s the lowdown on the ciders we tasted:

  • Cape Daze: A sea salt lemonade cider. Tart and a little salty. Interesting, but probably not something we’d order a full glass of.
  • Core: Made from local apples, this semi-dry cider has a strong apple flavor. Vince and I both gave it a thumbs up.
  • Honeypot: A semi-dry honey saison-style cider. Reminded us of a pear cider we tried at an event back home. Pretty tasty!
  • OG: Traditional cider that tastes like apple pie. Sweet with a hint of vanilla. Yum!
  • Meteor Sour Apricot: Super tart cider fermented with apricots. I usually dig sour beers, but this one was a bit much for me at first. After trying the Fruit Punch, I gave it another shot and picked up more of the apricot flavor.
  • Strawberry Rhubarb Pie: Fermented with wild strawberry puree and rhubarb, then conditioned on pie crust and lactose sugar. Sweet and strawberry-forward. A real treat!
  • Blueberry Crumble: Fermented with blueberries, cinnamon, oatmeal, and vanilla. Tastes just like blueberry crumble. So good!
  • Fruit Punch: A mix of pineapple, mango, guava, cherry, passionfruit, orange, and apricot. A little sour, but not as intense as the Apricot Meteor Sour.

We both agreed that the Strawberry Rhubarb Pie was our top pick, so we grabbed a 4-pack to enjoy back at the camper. Speaking of 4-packs, many of their flavors were available in cans to go. We also found some of their ciders available for sale in one of the local stores.

Food

The food was really good. I went for the braised short ribs with whipped potatoes. I had to skip the Brussels sprouts since they give me a headache, but the staff was happy to make the switch. The short ribs were delicious, and the portion was generous enough that I had leftovers for later. I totally forgot to document what Vince and Parker tried, but they enjoyed it!

Service

The folks at G Pub and High Limb Cider were friendly and accommodating. They made sure we had a great experience and didn’t mind tweaking my order.

Kids and Dogs

While G Pub and High Limb Cider have outdoor seating, they don’t allow dogs inside. Not sure about the patio, so it’s best to check with the staff if you want to bring your pup. The arcade in the back was a hit with our son Parker, who happily played there after finishing his meal.

Final Thoughts

High Limb Cider in Plymouth, MA, is a must-visit spot for anyone who loves craft cider and a laid-back atmosphere. The ciders are unique and tasty, the food is delicious, and the staff is friendly. It’s a great place for families, too, with the arcade and outdoor seating. Just keep in mind that many places in Plymouth are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so plan accordingly. Next time we’re in that area, we plan to go back and try more of their creative cider flavors!

We used to put stickers from the places we visited We used to put stickers from the places we visited on the back of our old camper. With our current RV, we get magnets for the fridge instead. That way, when we eventually get rid of this camper, we can take the reminders of our great trips with us. #rvlife #rv #rvliving

What a day! We started at @flyingacefarm for lunch What a day! We started at @flyingacefarm for lunch. Their brisket was really good, but why has nobody told me about custard filled cornbread before?! I'm mad that I'm just finding out about it at 50! We also got some banana pudding, and it was delicious. The cider and mango colada sour were pretty good, and Vince liked the black forest porter, but we weren't fans of the cucumber melon hard seltzer.

After lunch, we went to @adroittheory, apparently for second dessert! I saw they had several sours on their website and knew we had to try it while we were in the area. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The Hi-C sour was tangy, and the Soulless ginger beer had absolutely no soul (but lots of ginger flavor). The Funboy (raspberry vanilla dreamsicle) and Division (banana pudding + white chocolate) were sweet and fruity. We had a hard time deciding which one to take home in a crowler! I voted for both, but we ended up with a crowler of Funboy. Local friends, hit me up if you want to try some Sunday night!
